So You Want Unity?

So you want unity?

But you are not willing to forgive your friends for what they have done in the past.

Therefore, my advice to you is, forget about unity.

Yeah, forget it, because re-acceptance is really the key to tie up loose bonds, and if you are not willing to forgive a friend for something he/she may have done to you in the past, then why talk about unity? In my humble opinion, that is simply being hypocritical.

Surely friendship means more than remembering grievances. Think about the good times we had together. Think about all that fun, laughter and joy. Does it mean nothing to you? Do you not cherish those wonderful days we shared, and do you not want those days back?

If you want it back, then you've got to work for it. It is not an "either the sorry offender or the forgiving victim" thing. Yes, the offender has to regret what he/she has done, but the victim must also be gracious enough to forgive him/her.

To err is human. We all mistakes, learn from them, and then we move on. But to condemn a friend for what he/she has done months, even years ago? Surely there is more to friendship than that.

Please, many of us are craving for a complete puzzle in the bond of friendship, and it cannot be completed with missing pieces.

Won't you do your part?

If not, stop ranting about unity because you do not seriously want it.

Those Were The Days

While the evening sun was disappearing into the horizon, there I was, dragging my feet home from school.

School, after dismissal, was filled with the noisy banter of students. While some discussed loudly about the latest fad, some ran as fast as their legs could fetch them to board the schoolbuses. But very soon, silence would fall upon the school compound as one by one, the students left for home. And so did I.

As I trugged along the path that led me home, bearing my heavy schoolbag, my mind wandered to think about all that had happened in school that day. All the fun, laughter, and the typical classroom disorder came to mind.

Then I thought about what awaited me when I got home. My parents, dinner, and then the dreaded homework. Then probably a few games on my console, before I sneaked to bed.

Now, more than ten years later, I cannot help but be reminded of those days when evening sets in. Through the tinted windows of the public bus, I see students walking home on the pavement and I think about the times of old under the vast orange sky.

How time flies! Looking back at the days when I was in school, it seemed just like yesterday. I wish I could relive those days and experience how it was to be naughty all over again.

Sometimes, the simplest things in life are the most tremendous. Like memories - they stay on after all has passed.

Memories, memories, how beautiful they are...

Addons

Spent just over a few hours updating my blog site. Added a tagboard and a site meter, and twitched with the colours. I know it shouldn't have taken me a few hours, but I'm new at this, so gimme a break :p

I think I've learnt quite a bit on HTML today, heh...

Have fun browsing!!

Song Of The Month (Sept)

It was hard to decide September's song of the month. Unlike August's songs of the month (it took me less than a minute to decide), I had at least 5 songs in my mind this month. Think I'd stick to the ones I discovered first, and probably feature the rest next month.

1. GORILLAZ - FEEL GOOD INC

City's breaking down on a camels back
They just have to go cos they dont hold back
So all you fill the streets its appealing to see
You wont get out the county
'cos you're bad and free
You've got a new horizon
It's ephemeral style
A melancholy town where we never smile
And all I wanna hear is the message beep
My dreams, they've got to kiss
Because I dont get sleep, no..

Windmill, windmill for the land
Learn forever hand in hand
Take it all in on your stride
It is sticking, falling down
Love forever love is free
Let’s turn forever you and me
Windmill, windmill for the land
Is everybody in?

Laughing gas these hazmats, fast cats
Lining them up-a like ass cracks
Ladies, homies, at the track its my chocolate attack
Shit, I m stepping in the heart of this here
Care bear bumping in the heart of this here
Watch me as I gravitate hahahahahahaa
Yo, we gonna go ghost town, this motown
With yo sound you're in the place you gonna bite the dust
Cant fight with us
With yo sound you kill the INC
So dont stop, get it, get it until you re cheddar header
Yo, watch the way I navigate

Dont stop, get it, get it
We are your captains in it steady
Watch me navigate, ahahahahahhaa
Dont stop, get it, get it
We are your captains in it steady
Watch me navigate

2. KEANE - SOMEWHERE ONLY WE KNOW

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?

Watch It!!!

People should should think twice before attempting to give advice. If they don't know nuts about what they are giving advice on, they should just STFU instead of misleading others with their words.

My mum told me today she was worried for me because her friend had suggested to her that Australian degrees weren't recognised in Singapore. OH REALLY?... I didn't know that!!! Her friend had told her how Singapore degrees were "better", and "more recognised" in Singapore. WOW, that's NEWS!

Please, if the Singapore degrees are better and more recognised, why then are all the scholars sent abroad to study? To jeopardise their future? And why do I not see Aussies coming here to take up our degree courses? I mean, if they were so good, shouldn't the Aussies be coming here in flocks? What I see, though, is a mass exodus of Singaporeans going overseas to study..
*laughs*

Like I've always said.. I do not expect these typical Singaporeans to come up with anything better, really. They've wasted their whole lives away in Singapore and have never, or have simply not bothered to open their eyes to take a good look at the world outside of Singapore. The result? Everything made in Singapore is the best.

Sigh.. How pathetic..

Why This Blog?

Alrite. People have been asking me why I set up a blog. I'll settle this once and for all. I think having a blog is the best way to exercise one's freedom of speech. I am the vocal kind of guy, and I love to write, so there you have it. I cannot find a better channel to express myself, really. Having a blog is just my cup of tea. So kudos to all the blog providers out there!

A Taste Of The Tasty

Hello, we're into September already. Time really flies huh?

Anyway, my cousin's mother went to New York two weeks ago to
spend some time with her daughter who's currently on a scholarship
there. Now she comes back and tells me how I should go there to
work. According to a taxi driver she met in New York, one could
easily earn up to 6k a month being just a taxi driver.

And guess what? I couldn't agree more with my aunt. If the
opportunity arises, I'd surely go overseas to work. Not to third world
or undeveloped countries of course, but to countries where
democracy is not a "noun" but a "verb". Places where human rights
exist. Places where you're paid as you deserve because bosses
respect workers as fellow humans - not as slaves who should
be devoided of their rights just because they are paid.

My aunt tells me how beautiful the place is, and although I haven't
been there before, I can almost visualize it. But not beautiful in just
the physical aspects, I think.

Yeah I know how some people say the crime rate in these liberal
countries can be a real pain. But as journalism is meant to be
sensationalistic in nature, I refuse to take things literally. I have
many relatives and friends residing in such so-called dangerous
liberal countries but are still in one piece now. Looking at it, the
issue with the high crime rate might just be propaganda after all.
Read between the lines - the fact that someone doesn't want you to
leave means they might well fabricate stories to dissuade you from
leaving.

Who has a right to call you a "quitter" anyway?
We leave for other countries = quitters... and
People who leave for our country = FOREIGN TALENTS?!!?!

It's just good for us to get out of our well and see what other countries
have to offer. Sometimes we're so brainwashed we think Singapore is
the world and the world is Singapore. Fiction, unfortunately, can
never become facts.

And that is just too bad!
