Dear Army Mates...

Time to write something again.

More about myself? Well, just the normal guy you see in your
neighbourhood. Been to kindergarten, primary and secondary
school like any other person, and then proceeded to Ngee Ann
Polytechnic after my Os. Will turn 24 this December. Sigh, age
is really catching up. Check out my complete profile if you care
to know more.. But then again, what's there to know?

Hey dear army mates!! All's left after the army days are past,
after the evening sets in are friendships. I don't enjoy army, I
just enjoy the times we spent together. Of course not with
everyone... (hint hint =p) Certainly not with "eh I heard Curtin
sell degree ah!"

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Let's meet up some time. Tell me when those charred beings
aren't there, I'd be glad to drop by. And please keep our trip
DOWN UNDER at the end of the year in mind!!

Take care my friends... Ignore the charred ones.. Have faith
in our dreams =)

The Post-ORD Fever

OK, it's stamped, chopped and nailed now. ORD loh!!
Went back to camp to collect my PINK IC earlier today..
Something I haven't seen for 2 years ever since I was
forcefully required to serve on that fateful day 2 years
ago...

Also received amongst other things, the NSman booklet
that goes bli-bla-bleh about army discipline and my responsibility
as a NS-man. AS IF I CARE!!!

As far as I'm concerned, now that I'm out of SAF, there'll
be no waste of good time, and there'll be no need to work
with people who has that lack of good sense :)

Have a nice day.

WASTEPAPER ARTICLE SERIES #2

This is not your idea of a newspaper article. This is my idea of a joke. It is largely inaccurate, hopelessly infactual, and contains gross misinformation. Something you would not want to take seriously. Proceed at your own peril!

Overseas Singaporeans rally around PM Lee's vision for a vibrant global city
source: Tan Bee Leng, CNA China correspondent

SHANGHAI: Overseas Singaporeans have voiced their support for Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's vision for a vibrant global city.

They are also heartened by the fact it was two hours long of talk, as some of them had subscribed to the cable television network in China specially to watch the National Day Rally.

Mr. See Ray Lee, a Singaporean stationed in Shanghai, said: "Not bad man, he can actually stand there and speak for 2 hours. In Singapore, one movie costs $9.50 on weekends now, and they can't even guarantee it will at least hit 2 hours! So I think watching this rally is money well spent. Afterall, it's always been about the length, not the content."

These overseas Singaporeans live and work thousands of kilometres away but for these Singaporeans, home is where the heart is.

Mdm. Oh Ver Seeh, clearly echoed this view, saying: "When the tax and petrol prices in Singapore rise, my heart jumps. When I hear people being arrested for doing seemingly harmless things in Singapore, my heart thumps. So how can my heart not be with Singapore?"

That's why many Singaporeans in Shanghai spent Sunday night glued to the television watching Channel NewsAsia's live broadcast of the Prime Minister addressing the nation in his annual National Day Rally.

Many businessmen have always looked to the National Day Rally as a model standard to do business - being able to make lots of money yet make customers believe that they aren't losing anything.

And they were in for a treat.

Using slides and video clips, the Prime Minister sketched a vision to turn Singapore into a vibrant global city everyone can call home.

However, Mr. Nevar Maiygrade, an American who was touring Singapore, said upon hearing the Prime Minister's rally, "Everyone? Does that include me? I have no plans to call Singapore home. I have a home and family in Oregon."

Living and working in Shanghai, one of the fastest growing cities in the world, Singaporeans were excited to hear the Prime Minister explain how a small nation like Singapore can compete against the big cities.

The solution to this seem to lie with a people exchange programme with China. Singaporeans are sent to China to work. In return, we get what we so affectionately call Foreign Talents.

Mr. Chye Ner Man, president of the Foreign Talent Self-Marketing Association based in China, said in a Chinese accent: "China you get so many things happening. Everything is big, the land is big, our brains are big. Even our mouths are big. Really touched by what PM says about Singapore small but want to be big. China government welcome Singaporean to work in China, PM also invite China people to work in Singapore and get PR. In the end, whoever can invite more wins, I think. But I think what PM say is true, Singapore can win. Because China got so many people, PM can never finish inviting. Moreover, we China people like Singapore PR because foreign talent like us no need to do National Service. So easy to get, so why not?"

So it looks like the Prime Minister can count on the support more than just the Singaporeans at home to turn his vision into reality. Afterall, it's all about Foreign Talents first.

Song Of The Month (August)

1. SIMPLE PLAN - UNTITLED

I open my eyes
I try to see but I'm blinded
By the white light
I can't remember how
I can't remember why
I'm lying here tonight
And I can't stand the pain
And I can't make it go away
No I can't stand the pain

How could this happen to me?
I made my mistakes
Got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me?

Everybody's screaming
I try to make a sound
But no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold onto
A time when nothing mattered
I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No I can't

2. JAMES BLUNT - YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL

My life is brilliant
My love is pure
I saw an angel
Of that I'm sure
She smiled at me on the subway
She was with another man
But I won't lose no sleep on that
'Cause I've got a plan

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
I saw you face in a crowded place
And I don't know what to do
'Cause I'll never be with you

Yeah, she caught my eye
As we walked on by
She could see from my face that I was
Fucking high
And I don't think that I'll see her again
But we shared a moment that will last till the end

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
I saw you face in a crowded place
And I don't know what to do
'Cause I'll never be with you

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You're beautiful, it's true
There must be an angel with a smile on her face
When she thought up that I should be with you
But it's time to face the truth
I will never be with you

Manpower Ministry, EDC to promote longer work cycle
source: Anjana Menon, CNA
edited by: loosefuse

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Manpower and Enterprise Development Centre have signed an agreement to promote the WLWF, which is otherwise known as the Whole Life Work Fund.

The fund is set up by the Ministry to push companies who will in turn, have to push their workers to work harder for the rest of their lives. Under the scheme, companies who are able to "push" their workers to work beyond the age of 85 will be awarded $30,000 each.

They hope to attract the 130,000 Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to tap into the $10 million fund that is being set aside for this project.

However, most companies are yet to be convinced of the investment.

Mr Say Onn Lee, the managing director of a local company, said: "Say is one thing. Whether they will give when the time comes for them to put their money where their mouths are, is another thing altogether. Besides, since peanuts cost $600,000 are they trying to say we are not even worth peanuts?"

Spokesmen from other companies also complained that $30,000 was not even enough to organize a decent function, for example, Annual Dinner and Dance, let alone "push" people to work beyond the age of 85.

The Whole Life Work Fund was set up in August last year. Since then, only 32 businesses have managed to draw from it, or rather, have been able to "push" effectively.

But the Ministry refuses to be discouraged by the poor awareness of the fund amongst the SMEs.

Mr Werk Morlah, Permanent Secretary of Manpower Ministry, said: "We do not see why people should stop working at the age of 55. My grandmother did household chores till the day she died. Household chores and work, about the same what!"

The Pre-ORD Fever

ORD loh!!
For those of you who know what it means, well :)
Nothing is better than being able to say this, seriously.
I'm so glad the 2 years of imposed labour is over.
I'm on leave till this Friday, when I will receive my IC.
For those of you who still have a long way to go - Don't be jealous!!
My advice to you? Quit thinking about it and the days will fly by very quickly.
You only make yourselves miserable by counting the days.
And what could be a more appropriate to start this blog now when it's all over!
HEHEHEHEHEHE!!! :D~
