A Week's Passing

Another eventful week has just passed. And school looms in the week ahead.

Monday was very much spent slackin at home, playing computer games and stuff. Went out with Siong and Xia for dinner, and finished Xia's bottle of vodka mixed with sparkling juice.

Had a project meeting on tuesday, and made dumplings for dinner together with Siong and Xia on wednesday. I mean everything was hand made, right down to the peeling of prawns and cutting of vegetables.

On thursday, a whole bunch of us went to Sentosa for some beach activities. Well my entire family went, and so did Kelvin's. Rufus, Gaius, Sherlyn, Emily, Joel, Jason, Siong, Eunice, Cheryl and Stephanie also tagged along. Played volleyball at a court until we got chased out by a hotel attendant for not booking the court, then off we were pushing each other into the water and throwing sand at one another. By the way, the seaweeds looked really disgusting. Played a bit of soccer afterwards, then went back to the sea for a leisurely swim. To top it all off, we "fished" a live octopus right out of the water.

Slacked at home on friday for the better part of the day. Then went out for dinner and some "pool" or should I say, amateurish billiard with the choir members near Katong Village. They ordered some Singapore Sling cocktail for me and I thought it tasted like roses blended with cherries. Ewwww..

Afterwards, we walked all the way to the bus stop quite some distance away, wanting to catch the last bus 55 home. And guess what happened? We arrived at the bus stop around 11.30pm. The bus service information guide at the bus shelter stated that the last bus was supposed to leave the terminal nearby at 11.53pm. So thinking there would be a last bus, we waited for it instead of sharing a cab home. We waited until about 12.15am or so when an off-service bus 55 drove by. The driver indicated to us that there would not be any no. 55 buses coming our way. We waited till 12.30am before we finally decided to share a cab home.

What was that all about? They clearly stated that the last bus would be leaving the terminal at 11.53pm and yet in this case the last bus left before 11.30pm. That is utterly irresponsible and it simply reinforces my beliefs that SBS's service standards suck. They are the first when it comes to fare hikes, but where are the quality hikes? If they hadn't misled us with their incorrect info, we'd have taken a cab home at 11.30pm instead of waiting for the damn bus and having to pay the 50% surcharge. I'm so going to file a complaint... Don't they think they can do whatever they wish just because they monopolise the transport industry in Singapore.

Those people ought to be taught a lesson.

Song Of The Month (Dec)

1. MADONNA - HUNG UP

Time goes by so slowly
Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you

Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Time goes by so slowly for those who wait
No time to hesitate
Those who run seem to have all the fun
I'm caught up
I don't know what to do

Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
Time goes by so slowly
I don't know what to do

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Ring ring ring goes the telephone
The lights are on but there's no one home
Tick tick tock it s a quarter to two
And I'm done
I'm hanging up on you

I can't keep on waiting for you
I know that you're still hesitating
Don't cry for me cause I'll find my way
You'll wake up one day but it'll be too late

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

Every little thing that you say or do
I'm hung up
I'm hung up on you
Waiting for your call
Baby night and day
I'm fed up
I'm tired of waiting on you

2. BON JOVI - HAVE A NICE DAY

Why you wanna tell me how to live my life
Who are you to tell me if it's black or white
Mama, can you hear me
Try to understand
Is innocence the difference between a boy and a man
My daddy lived the lie
It's just the price that he paid
Sacrificed his life just slavin away

Ohhh if there s one thing I hang onto
It gets me through the night
I ain't gonna do what I don't want to
I'm gonna live my life
Shining like a diamond
Rolling with the dice
Standing on the ledge
Show the wind how to fly
When the world gets in my face
I say have a nice day
Have a nice day

Take a look around you
Look it's what he sees
We're living in a broken home of hopes and dreams
Let me be the first to shake a helping hand
Everybody pray enough to take a stand
I knocked on every door
On every dead end street
Looking for forgiveness
What's left to believe

Ohhh if there s one thing I hang onto
It gets me through the night
I ain't gonna do what I don't want to
I'm gonna live my life
Shining like a diamond
Rolling with the dice
Standing on the ledge
Show the wind how to fly
When the world gets in my face
I say have a nice day
Have a nice day

Ohhh if there s one thing I hang onto
It gets me through the night
I ain't gonna do what I don't want to
I'm gonna live my life
Shining like a diamond
Rolling with the dice
Standing on the ledge
Show the wind how to fly
When the world gets in my face
I say have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day

When the world keeps trying to drag me down
I've gotta raise my hands
Gonna stand my ground
Well I say have a nice day
Have a nice day
Have a nice day

Champions League 05/06 Draw

Here are the results of the Champions League 05/06 draw....

And what a draw it was!

Chelsea v Barcelona

Real Madrid v Arsenal

Werder Bremen v Juventus

Bayern Munich v AC Milan

PSV Eindhoven v Lyon

Ajax Amsterdam v Inter Milan

Benfica v Liverpool

Rangers v Villarreal

I mean, look at the fixtures... Chelsea versus Barcelona, Real Madrid versus Arsenal, Bayern Munich versus AC Milan...

I thought these type of fixtures would be best left for the later stages of the competition like the quarter-finals. But wow, look at what we've got. It's sad 3 very good teams will be knocked out of the competition even before the quarter finals.

And I hope Chelsea will be one of them. Look at Mourinho - he's so cocky. He ought to be taught lessons on humility, and what's a better team to do it than Barcelona!

TSS#1 - Popular Practice 1

Below is one of the 10 most popular rules society practices today.. Will discuss about one popular practice each month for ten months. Enjoy the hypocrisy!! :)

It's NOT OK to compare how others are leading better lives... erm.. let's just put it this way.. be contented with what you have and stop comparing

BUT

It's OK to pressurize kids with all sorts of ranking.. It's OK to keep comparing their results with those of his / her schoolmates and.. It's certainly OK not to be contented and to chide them when they haven't done as well as their schoolmates even though they've tried their best.

Double standards? You decide.

Sometimes people think they know everything just because their older. Yet some can be the most unfair, self righteous and ridiculous people around.

With age, some become wiser. Others become SENILE.

Drunk Fest 2005

I'm writing about an eventful Saturday night.

I've just returned home after a night's stay at the chalet Fabian had rented. (Thanks for inviting us and once again, a very happy 22nd birthday Fabian!!) I'm still feeling the effects of insufficient sleep but I thought it'd be interesting to talk about last night. Well, whatever..

So why would a normal birthday party be eventful? Well that's simply because there were enough drunkards at the party to form a Drunk Fest 2005.

Our AS1 Wayne was the first to feel the effects of the booze. Not that he had much of a choice anyway, heh heh heh.. I mean, practically everyone at the party were offering him alcoholic drinks. Being the obliging person he was, he accepted all of them and as you know, the rest is history.

Nazryn and Shreejan were next. I don't know for sure, but they must have gulped down at least ten cups of their special martell + vodka + chivas regal cocktail before they started singing songs, talking gibberish and doing the things you would associate with drunkards. And Nazryn was going on and on in his tipsy state about how everyone was already drunk when it was barely ten.

And oh yes Farhan, he was the last to turn up and yet was one of the first to vomit like he'd never get another chance to. What's up dude, don't give me that "I'm not vomitting" bullshit when you sounded as if your guts were going to be thrown out of your mouth any moment. I was tired but sober, mind you. HA HA HA!

Finally, Hafiidh was posing the same question to Shreejan every five minutes or so at four or five in the morning about whether he would "survive" a possible road block. Gotta salute Shreejan on his patience, and for not doing what I would have done if I was tipsy, and that is to stuff the can of vodka into Hafiidh's mouth!

Hmm, me? I took about 5 cups of vodka + chivas regal + coke, (I know it's called bourbon coke but I don't like to call it bourbon coke since it sounds amateurish and I'm not an amateur =p) and a can of beer. Got a little high but was sober and conscious nevertheless.

What a great way to wrap up the week after celebrating my 24th birthday last Sunday.

So there, a crazy night for you. Filled with crazy fun. Not recommended for the uptight.

My Online Tutorial

I have just done an online tutorial, and one of the questions posed to me was what I would propose if I was given an opportunity to recommend changes to the film classification system in Singapore.

Well, I would propose the lowering of the film ratings. I would recommend that the R(A) age restriction be lowered from 21 to 18, and that the NC-16 rating be lowered to NC-14 for war movies.

Many war films in the past have been classified as NC-16 films in the past just because they contained violence. I feel that students studying History in secondary schools can benefit if they were allowed to watch the films.

I also feel it is quite a double standard that Singaporeans aged 18 or above are considered mature enough to know right from wrong and can be charged in court if they violated laws of the country, but yet are not deemed mature enough to be exposed to R(A) content.

Young adults are not stupid. Even if they are prevented from watching R(A) films in the cinema, they will find ways to get hold of the film. Older Singaporeans just have to stop being self-righteous and stop thinking that their conservative values should be applied across the board because the fact they "dont have lives" does not mean we young people must do the same.
